Training Monday 16 January
A humid night in Sydney. After a thorough warm up we got into some partner drills (Renzoku Tsuki Waza). After a water break, we ran through kata Naihanchin a number of teams.
This process us then allowed us to identify three areas of basic techniques to work up - mawari kata (turning form), hiraki ashi - choku zuki (straight punch from open legged step) and yoko mawashi empi uchi (side roundhouse elbow strike). We drilled these techniques with pads and focus mitts.
After a warm down, we pondered the philosophical bit of the week - mizu no kokoro (mind like water).

Training - Monday 9 January 2006
Our first training session for 2006 commenced with a vigorous warm up, and then we got straight into randori training, focusing on Renshu Ichi. After almost an hour on this, we got the focus pads out and started training on punching and striking techniques to the pads.
After a gentle warm down, we completed our first class of the year.
We wish all karateka all of our best wishes for a safe, happy and successful year in 2006.

Additional Training Session Saturday 2 replies
This coming weekend, the NSW Titles of the Australian Koshiki Association will be held at Picton. Our Coonabarabran dojo, under the leadership of Renshi Max Estens and Tashi Graeme Bowden will be competing.
We are plannig to take advantage of the opportunity and to have a special combined training session between our dojo and the Coonabarabran one.
The time will most likely be 3.00pm - 5.00pm, and the location will probably be in the Campbelltown area (as this is where the Coona guys will be staying).
All dojo members welcome and encouraged to attend.

Being a public holiday, our training session was more informal tonight, but we went ahead all the same.
We worked through the bojutsu preparatory exercises, and then the first of the Gorin no Bo Randori sequences. Afterwards we looked at Renshu Ichi, and then self defence scenarios.
